CHINA’S HUAWEI SHUT OUT IN U.S. AND CANADA

China’s tech giant Huawei Technologies Inc. of Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, on the basis of a U.S. Congressional Intelligence Committee investigative report, is being shut out of doing business with the U.S. and Canadian governments on security threat grounds as being an agent of the Chinese Communist government.

The U.S. House of Representatives’ report also urged American businesses to stop doing business with Huawei and ZTE Corp., another Chinese company.

Invoking a national security exception Canada has deemed Huawei to be too risky to be involved in building the network for carrying government phone calls, e-mail and data center services.

Huawei cell phones are currently sold to the public in Canada by all its cell phone telecom providers – Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE), Rogers, Telus, WIND, Virgin Mobile.
